Netflix ‘May Know Something We Don’t’ and Are Hanging on to Meghan in Case Things Between Her and Prince Harry Go South, Commentator Says

Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle show debuted on Netflix on March 4, and almost as fast as it crept into the <a href=”https://www.netflix.com/tudum/top10/tv” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Top 10 it fell off and hasn’t been back since.

With Love, Meghan recieved some pretty harsh reviews from critics in Britain as well as some major publications in the U.S. And it pulled in a dismal <a href=”https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/with_love_meghan/s01/reviews?type=user” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rotten Tomatoes score with many giving the series one star or just a half-a-star rating.

However, the duchess’s series isn’t dead in the water yet. That’s because Netflix hopes to bring new life to the show next fall when it releases the remaining episodes via Season 2 of With Love, Meghan. And now there are questions about whether the streaming giant will renew the Sussexes’ contract with some reports claiming Netflix hopes to remain in “good terms” with the former Suits star. Read on to fins out why.

Royal expert says Netflix is ‘getting cozy’ with Meghan for 1 reason

<figure class=”wp-block-image size-full” id=”emb-1″><img decoding=”async” src=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Meghan-Markle-on-With-Love-Meghan-Season-1.webp?strip=all&quality=80″ alt=”Meghan Markle on ‘With Love, Meghan’ Season 1″ class=”wp-image-3787535″>
Meghan Markle on ‘With Love, Meghan’ Season 1 | Netflix

You may be wondering why after handing the duke and duchess a $100 million contract and recieving five projects total, of whch only one was a hit, Netflix would have any intertest in the Sussexes moving forward. Well, it’s apparently because of what the duchess could potentially offer them.

During an episode of Rita Panahi’s show on <a href=”https://www.skynews.com.au/opinion/rita-panahi/netflix-staying-cosy-with-meghan-markle-in-hopes-of-a-sussex-divorce/video/6de906156f45fdb4a3cf2361d8b4941d” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Sky News Australia, To Di For Daily podcast host Kinsey Schofield discussed reports that Netflix is only “staying cozy” with Meghan in case she divorces Prince Harry.

“It is the talk,” Schofield said. “In Los Angeles, the talk is that Netflix are staying cosy with Meghan in case things go south. You saw the Vanity Fair article in January which suggested that someone from Meghan’s team had potentially been shopping a post-divorce Harry book to publishers around the United States.

“Maybe Netflix knows something we don’t, so if they stay in with Meghan Markle, they get the exclusive. The exclusive they always wanted like the one Oprah Winfrey got. I do think this makes a lot of sense.”

That Vanity Fair article Schofield mentioned is the magazine’s blistering February 2025 cover story detailing the Sussexes’ lives and business ventures since leaving the royal family. One claim alleged that someone in the duchess’s circle was shopping a “divorce book” for when she left Prince Harry.

According to the magazine, a person from Meghan’s team allegedly had a conversation with a publishing house to “gauge interest” in the idea for such a book. However, the article did note that “no offer was ever made, and no manuscript was produced. After all: There was no divorce.”

Meghan is said to have found that claim “devastating” and a source who’s been in contact with her told <a href=”https://www.ok.co.uk/celebrity-news/meghan-markle-devastated-rumours-post-34549666″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>OK!: “Meghan knows that the [divorce] rumors always make their fans worry about a split, and she doesn’t like that sort of negativity being spread. Meghan was devastated when she saw all of these reports about a ‘post-divorce’ book coming out.”
