The revelation has made many viewers feel old, but MTV is leaning into the concept. The network recently released a trailer for the franchise’s “Sweet 16” season. <em>Teen Mom: The Next Chapter</em> season 2B is returning sooner than expected, and plenty of drama should be covered. Broken engagement, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/amber-portwood-says-shes-being-prevented-from-seeing-her-daughter-leah-shirley.html/”>custody drama</a>, and legal issues will likely be included in the upcoming season. </p>

<p id=”par-2_52″>MTV offered its viewers a little early Christmas gift. On December 20, the network dropped a surprise trailer for season 2B of <em>Teen Mom: The Next Chapter</em>. Along with the trailer, MTV proclaimed the upcoming season’s official release date. Fans can tune in for a brand new season on January 30, 2025.</p>

<p id=”par-3_64″>It is still unclear how many episodes will be included in season 2B, but it looks like filming will pick up where season 2A left off and include footage that is pretty close to the present day. <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/teen-mom-og-star-maci-bookout-so-proud-son-bentley-chasing-his-dreams.html/”>Bentley Edwards</a> and Leah Shirley’s 16th birthdays factor into the trailer. The teens, the oldest <em>Teen Mom</em> kids, turned 16 on October 27 and November 12, respectively.</p>

<p id=”par-4_105″>While MTV released a trailer for the upcoming season, the network was careful not to give too much away in the upload. We didn’t get to see any dramatic clips, but there are sure to be plenty of them. Amber Portwood recently took to TikTok to suggest fans will see her battle with her ex, Gary Shirley, over their shared daughter, Leah Shirley. Fans will likely see more of Portwood’s recent heartbreak unfold, too. Portwood’s fiance, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gary-wayt-breaks-silence-explains-why-left-north-carolina-without-phone.html/”>Gary Wayt, disappeared over the summer</a> only to turn up perfectly safe and sound. MTV covered the fallout from the failed engagement in the final moments of season 2A.</p>

<p id=”par-5_72″>Viewers are likely to see more drama from Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra, as well. They have spent the brief break on Instagram, denouncing adoption and throwing shade at their oldest biological child’s adoptive parents. Ashley Jones and Cheyenne Floyd are also set to return. Maci Bookout and Briana DeJesus both appeared in the trailer, too. Also set to return is Mackenzie Douthit, who is currently on a fertility journey with her fiance. </p>

<p id=”par-6_96″>While the old favorites will all be back to share more moments from their lives, a few stars are missing from the most recent trailer. Jenelle Evans, whose return was expected to bolster ratings during the first half of season 2, is not returning for the second half. Evans reportedly insisted on having her boyfriend, August Keen, billed as such, leading MTV to part ways with Evans yet again. <a href=”https://www.theashleysrealityroundup.com/2024/10/21/exclusive-jenelle-evans-cut-from-teen-mom-next-chapter-heres-how-it-went-down/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Ashley Reality Roundup Group</a> reported that the network was hoping for a redemption arc from Evans after her split from David Eason. Her decision to share the trailer likely means she has filmed, although it’s unclear what her storyline could possibly be.</p>
