Eleven years later, the <em><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/stranger-things/”>Stranger Things</a></em> star faces more criticism than ever <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/millie-bobby-brown-explains-what-made-her-marry-so-young-it-always-felt-right-with-him.html/”>as she recently married</a> and began stepping out in more mature looks. The media has torn apart the 21-year-old for the possible work she’s had done and the style choices she’s making. On March 3, Brown reached her breaking point.</p>

<p id=”par-2_53″>Brown posted a lengthy video on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DGwZgLXSJuH/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram</a> addressing how growing up under public scrutiny affects “every woman.” <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/stranger-things-star-millie-bobby-brown-makes-3x-money-instagram-post-americans-make-year.html/”>In the video</a>, the <em>Enola Holmes</em> actor went makeup-free, wearing a pink hoody with her blonde hair down. She called her post “necessary” as she explained how she “grew up in front of the world.” </p>
<p id=”par-3_80″>Brown continued, “For some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on <em>Stranger Things</em> Season 1. And because I don’t, I’m now a target.” Brown called out several articles specifically, including “Why are Gen Zers like <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/millie-bobby-brown/”>Millie Bobby Brown</a> ageing so badly?” by Lydia Hawken and “What has Millie Bobby Brown done to her face?” by John Ely. </p>

I refuse to <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/millie-bobby-brown-reveals-fans-hard-time-accepting-true-age.html/”>apologize for growing up</a> … I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself.” Brown challenged her followers and the media to “do better.” “Not just for me,” she continued. “But for every young girl who deserves to grow up without fear of being torn apart for simply existing.”</p>

<p id=”par-5_63″>Celebrity friends and industry insiders flooded <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/stranger-things-millie-bobby-brown-eleven-based-e-t.html/”>Millie Bobby Brown</a>‘s post with support. Sharon Stone wrote, “Beautifully said Thx it really doesn’t matter our age or stature, we must be willing to own ourselves fully not fall to the false ideology of tear down media. Good job my friend.” The <em>Basic Instinct</em> star’s comment received nearly 28,000 likes as Brown’s supporters weighed in. </p>

So proud of you Mills.” Over 57,000 Instagram followers liked his comment. Brown’s <em>The Electric State</em> costar took to social media, too. <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/chris-pratt-went-through-identity-crisis-guardians-of-the-galaxy.html/”>Chris Pratt</a> commented, “Glad to see you standing up for yourself. Some of these journalists are sad and lonely folks. We’ll pray for em. You look great!! And more importantly you have a beautiful heart.”</p>

TV personality Julianne Hough praised Brown’s “maturity and grace,” writing, “Thank you for your courage to stand in your power- your light and leading my example of what ‘growing up’ actually looks like.” </p>

<p id=”par-8_52″>English actor and comedian Matt Lucas quickly took to social media after Brown called him out specifically for bullying her. In her post, Brown questioned why a “grown man” is “mocking a young woman’s appearance.” Lucas responded on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DGw3pGhoz44/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram</a>, saying he was “mortified” that the press misinterpreted his comments about Brown. </p>
