<p id=”par-1_67″><em><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/love-is-blind/”>Love Is Blind</a> </em>received quite a bit of <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/chris-coelen-explains-lack-diversity-love-is-blind-again.html/”>criticism for lacking diversity</a> when it stopped by the Twin Cities for its eighth season. But apart from the racial makeup of its cast, fans also called out the reality TV show for perhaps spending too much time with couples in the pods. Recently, <em>Love Is Blind</em>’s producer let fans know that their complaints weren’t falling on deaf ears.</p>

<p id=”par-2_79″>The pods have always been an <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/love-is-blind-creator-chris-coelen-came-pods.html/”>important part of<em> Love Is Blind</em></a>. But some fans argued that the series might’ve overdone it this season. Often times, it takes a couple of episodes before the show’s chosen couples make it out of the pods. But this time it took six episodes before viewers could follow potential newlyweds into the outside world. Series creator Chris Coelen debunked a growing misconception that producers intentionally made season eight more pod-centric than prior seasons.</p>
<p id=”par-3_57″>“It’s always how the edit works out. We film everything and then we go back and look at how we got there. We put the pieces together. As always, we’re trying to pick the stories that resonate and that we feel are worthy of telling because they lean into authenticity,” Coelen said in an interview with <a href=”https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/love-is-blind-season-8-pods-music-engaged-couples-not-shown-1236307282/”>Variety</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-4_25″>Coelen also touched on the evolution of the pods in <em>Love Is Blind</em>, and how attached fans have gotten to the concept over the years.</p>

<p id=”par-5_100″>“When we first started making the show, the pods were a couple of episodes. People love the pods. It’s crazy to think about season one, Lauren and Cameron were doing the reveal at the end of episode one,” Coelen said. “Looking back… that’s so fast! But there are real, intense, incredible love stories that unfold in really fascinating ways in the pods. There are unbelievable love triangles. When we first started making the show, we thought we didn’t have time to tell stories of love triangles. But we now embrace the fact that it’s incredibly emotional, dramatic, messy and aspirational.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_19″>However, <em>Love Is Blind </em>producer Abby Simpson acknowledged fan complaint about the amount of screentime pods had this season.</p>
<p id=”par-7_46″>“We heard feedback this season that the show spent a lot of time in the pods and we’re thinking about that as we move forward,” Simpson told <a href=”https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/love-is-blind-season-8-reunion-interview-1235293273/”>Rolling Stone</a>. “We do pay attention, but I think we know how to filter the useful from mean-spirited comments.”</p>

<p id=”par-8_43″>It also fascinated Coelen how the season’s reliance on the pods this season helped experiment with contestants’ stories in a unique way. The showrunner pointed towards the love rectangle between three of the show’s contestants to demonstrate the new direction <em>Love Is Blind</em>.</p>
<p id=”par-9_91″>“When you look at the story of Madison, Alex, Mason and Meg in the pods… we’ve never told a story that didn’t make it out of the pods before. And I think it’s really exciting to do that because people will always ask, ‘What else happened? Who else did the date?’ We can never make a show to show everything, but showing some of the other stuff that happens in the pods is just incredibly entertaining. I could probably make 30 episodes of pods and it would be fascinating,” Coelen said.</p>
<p id=”par-10_86″>Coelen might’ve had a point, as the four contestants mentioned were still hot topics among fans even after the show moved on from them. Throughout season eight, it was even revealed that Mason and Meg dated temporarily after failing to match each other in the pods. Additionally, Alex and Madison also reconnected briefly, only for the pair to later go their separate ways. The focus on the pods in season eight seemed to allow even more stories to be told behind-the-scenes even after contestants left show.</p>
