<p id=”par-1_57″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/leonardo-dicaprio/”>Leonardo DiCaprio</a> didn’t only have <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/leonardo-dicaprio-couldnt-margot-robbie-pulled-stunt-steamy-wolf-of-wall-street.html/?swcfpc=1″>Margot Robbie as a love interest</a> for the acclaimed picture <em>Wolf of Wall Street</em>. <em>The Penguin </em>star Cristin Milioti also famously played his wife in the 2014 picture. While working with the Oscar-winner, Milioti saw just how far he was willing to go to help bring the best out of her performance.</p>

<p id=”par-2_54″>Milioti had a difficult time adjusting to her first big blockbuster. The <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/how-i-met-your-mother-alyson-hannigan-wanted-the-mother-to-be-this-1-of-teds-girlfriends.html/”><em>How I Met Your Mother </em>alum</a> nabbed the role of her career when she auditioned for <em>Wolf of Wall Street</em>. From there, it was all a matter of keeping herself together while on set, although she was under tremendous pressure back then.</p>
<p id=”par-3_69″>“I spent so much of that experience being so terrified of messing it up,” she said in an interview with <a href=”https://www.the-independent.com/arts-entertainment/tv/features/cristin-milioti-the-resort-how-i-met-your-mother-b2132491.html”>The Independent</a>. “I’d never been on a movie set that big. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I wish I had taken it in more and let go more. But if I <em>had </em>fully taken it in, I would have blacked out. I don’t think my brain was even computing.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_37″>Milioti’s nerves especially got to her during a harrowing scene she shot with DiCaprio, which took several takes to get right. Fortunately, DiCaprio might’ve been even more patient than she was when it came to the scene.</p>
<p id=”par-5_91″>“He’s so lovely. We had this one scene that was very emotional and I was having trouble finding a way into it. We were doing it over and over and it was outside and there were people everywhere,” she said according to <a href=”https://www.dailyactor.com/film/cristin-milioti-working-with-leonardo-dicaprio-the-wolf-of-wall-street/”>Daily Actor</a>. “I was getting really frustrated and he sat down with me and we had a heart to heart. He gave me this incredible pep talk and said ‘We can stay here all night and get this.’ He told me ‘I’m here for you, I believe in you.’”</p>

<p id=”par-6_52″>Robbie famously won her audition in <em>Wolf of Wall Street </em>by <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/babylon-star-margot-robbie-thorught-she-might-never-work-again-leonardo-dicaprio-smack.html/”>unexpectedly slapping DiCaprio</a> in the face during her audition. But DiCaprio relived a similar experience with Milioti, which might’ve been the same scene she initially had difficulty perfecting. Milioti’s character is questioning DiCaprio’s loyalty during the pivotal moment in the movie.</p>
<p id=”par-7_23″>“That was a wild night,” Milioti recalled. “We shot from 8pm to 8am and we did that scene over and over and over.”</p>
<p id=”par-8_14″>The result of which was Milioti striking DiCaprio a lot more than just once.</p>
<p id=”par-9_51″>“I did, a bunch of times,” Milioti said. “I just kind of slapped the hell out of him for 12 hours. I always had a real attachment to that scene, because you get to see this character, who has swallowed a lot of her feelings down, really get to let loose.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_51″>Although many considered Milioti’s performance memorable, the actor didn’t have as much screentime as her co-stars. But that would’ve changed if the film’s director, Martin Scorsese, went with another one of the script’s many drafts. Milioti cautiously revealed that she had a slightly bigger role with DiCaprio in an alternate ending.</p>
<p id=”par-11_101″>“Well, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this — there used to be a different ending,” she told <a href=”https://www.vulture.com/2014/02/how-i-met-your-mother-cristin-milioti-interview.html”>Vulture</a>. “I shot a lot of the stuff in the very beginning and I remember the ending had something to do with me coming back. Like, you never saw me, but it was about making it right for that character. And I’m only feeling weird saying that because I think that’s what happened and now I’m like, “Wait, did I just imagine a scene where they were going to indict me and he was like, ‘No, I can’t wrong her twice.’”</p>
