The famed quarterback hopes to get one step closer to returning to<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/nfl/?swcfpc=1″> the Super Bowl</a>. He’s not out there alone, though. Behind him are his Baltimore Ravens teammates and the team’s successful and veteran coaching staff. While he’s got plenty of professional coaches to weigh in on his gameplay, Lamar Jackson still thinks his mother, Felicia Jones, was the best coach he’s ever worked with.</p>

Lucky for him, she’s still in his corner. During a chat with <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/CzuIz0LRAsX/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>the Players’ Tribune</a> in 2023, Jackson said he still thinks his mom was the best coach he’s ever worked with.</p>

<p id=”par-3_97″>Jackson insists he isn’t just saying it because she’s his mother. According to the star quarterback, his mother had a vision for his football career years before he did. She didn’t just stand by and hope he would excel; she put in the work to help him realize his potential. Jackson said he and his mother worked out together regularly when he was still a kid. They ran across a bridge in his hometown of Pompano Beach regularly. After the runs, they ran drills in the backyard. His brother, Jamar Jackson, was involved in the workouts, too.</p>

<p id=”par-4_74″>Lamar Jackson’s mom, Felicia Jones, was her son’s first coach. Since then, he’s moved through high school and college football ranks. Now, he has a team of professionals behind him in the NFL. That doesn’t mean Jones doesn’t tell Jackson what she thinks about his gameplay. Apparently, she’s not afraid to criticize him, either. Jackson recently revealed he had spoken to his mother after a loss, and she had plenty of complaints for him.</p>

According to <a href=”https://www.nfl.com/news/ravens-lamar-jackson-momma-cussed-me-out-not-running-more-loss-eagles#:~:text=Lamar%20Jackson’s%20mother%2C%20Felicia,Ravens%20star%20relayed%20Jones’%20criticism.” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>NFL</a>, Jackson told reporters that she pointed out several moments in the game when he could have run the ball instead of waiting for routes to develop. Jones might have motivated the team to make some changes. Following the loss, the Ravens went on to win four straight games to land them in this evening’s wild-card matchup against <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/does-rooney-and-kate-maras-family-own-the-pittsburgh-steelers.html/”>the Pittsburgh Steelers.</a></p>
