Lady Gaga’s much-anticipated appearance in Wednesday Season 2 isn’t just a major win for fans—it also came with some unexpected perks for the show’s lead, Jenna Ortega. The pop icon’s arrival on set was nothing short of a spectacle, and according to Ortega, the production went all out to make sure the legendary performer had the royal treatment.

During a recent appearance on <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj9AKA03U58″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Ortega shared a hilarious story about how the energy—and amenities—on set shifted dramatically once Lady Gaga joined the production. “We had a normal functioning set at minimum,” Ortega explained. But that changed when Gaga arrived on set. “Pulling up to work the day of and suddenly there was a truck after truck after truck.”

Ortega quickly realized that Gaga’s presence brought an unprecedented level of luxury to the usually eerie and gothic Wednesday set. “I was walking and I tripped on this walkway and I didn’t understand what the walkway was,” she recalled. “They had rolled out this walkway for [Lady Gaga] to exit from the trailer to the tents.”

But the perks didn’t stop there. When Ortega retreated to her tent, she found it had been completely upgraded. “I went to my tent to hang out, and they replaced my dirty tent with like brand-new tents. I had a barber’s chair. They gave me fancy water. Everything,” she said with a laugh.

While Ortega was certainly amused by the over-the-top treatment Gaga received, she also joked about the stark contrast she experienced once the singer wasn’t around. “We really did it up for her, guys. We really wanted to impress her,” Ortega admitted. “The next day I went back to my dusty set up.”

The Wednesday team’s efforts to welcome Gaga in style make sense, considering the pop star’s massive influence and devoted fan base. Ever since Netflix teased her involvement in season 2, speculation has run wild about what role she’ll play in the darkly comedic Addams Family universe. Given her theatrical background and penchant for the macabre, it’s no surprise that fans believe she’s a perfect fit for the world of Wednesday.
