MacLachlan is still regularly asked about the series. The topic came up during a recent appearance. <a target=”_blank” href=”https://people.com/kyle-maclachlan-kristin-davis-trey-charlotte-perfect-match-sex-and-the-city-exclusive-11694839″ rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People </a>caught up with Kyle MacLachlan at the iHeartPodcast Awards at SXSW.</p>

<p id=”par-3_52″>The publication asked the actor how he felt about Kristin Davis suggesting Trey MacDougal was Charlotte York’s perfect match, a statement she made on her podcast, <em><a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-are-you-a-charlotte-247668155/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Are You a Charlotte?</a>. </em>MacLachlan agreed with the statement. He went on to say that it was “sad” when they brought in someone else for Charlotte.</p>
<p id=”par-4_76″>MacLachlan was referring to Charlotte hooking up with <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/3-ways-trey-macdougal-and-harry-goldenblatt-were-exactly-alike.html/”>her divorce lawyer, Harry Goldenblatt</a>. MacLachlan made two post-divorce appearances on the series, but Trey went unmentioned until season 2 of <em>And Just Like That… </em>after an early season 6 appearance. In season 2 of <em>And Just Like That…</em>, Charlotte noted that she wanted to remain friends with Trey but that he passed on the idea. The conversation would have looked different if MacLachlan had agreed to appear.</p>

<p id=”par-5_71″>Last month, Kristin Davis revealed that Kyle MacLachlan turned down the chance to reprise his role on <em>And Just Like That…</em> While Davis admitted she was upset Trey would not appear, she understood his rationale. According to Davis,<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/kyle-maclachlan-turned-down-a-guest-spot-on-and-just-like-that.html/”> MacLachlan didn’t want to add sadness</a> to the iconic character or his relationship with Charlotte. Davis later admitted that the storyline proposed for Trey and Charlotte was sad, but she didn’t elaborate further.</p>

<p id=”par-6_57″>News that MacLachlan had turned down a chance to appear shocked many fans. The <em>Twin Peaks</em> actor previously suggested he would be interested in appearing in the reboot. When he didn’t appear on set during season 2 or season 3, everyone just assumed the writing team hadn’t figured out a way to work the character back in.</p>
<p id=”par-7_35″>While it’s unclear if Max will greenlight the series for a fourth season, we remain hopeful that MacLachlan will eventually appear. <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/and-just-like-that-season-3-bring-back-missing-sex-and-the-city-element.html/”>Season 3 of the iconic reboot </a>has yet to premiere, but is expected soon.</p>
