King Charles’ Former Assistant Reveals What the Monarch’s Relationship With Prince William Is Like Amid Rift Rumors

<p id=”par-2_68″>Some outlets claim that the Prince of Wales is “furious” over his father’s willingness to meet with and accommodate Harry as it undermines the authority and hardline stance of the Crown, and therefore has caused tension among the royals. But others have insisted there is no feud between the monarch and his heir, and that the reports of a rift are coming from Harry and Meghan’s camp. </p>

<p id=”par-3_47″>There’s really no way of knowing what the father-and-son relationship is like behind Palace walls, unless you worked for the family for a period of time and saw them every day. Someone who did is now sharing what things were like between the king and William. </p>

Since leaving the royal household, Harrold has become one of the U.K.’s leading etiquette experts. In 2025, he published his first book, <em>The Royal Butler</em>, which became an Amazon bestseller. He regularly appears on TV offering royal commentary on both current and historic news stories.</p>

<p id=”par-5_47″>Speaking on behalf of <a href=”https://www.heartbingo.co.uk/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Heart Bingo Online</a>, Harrold told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “They’re really close. The two of them support each other. The king is great at giving William advice and guidance. Prince William was always very good at supporting his father, so they’ve got a wonderful relationship.</p>

<p id=”par-6_50″>“Their relationship evolved with the king guiding and helping William progress into his future role as Prince of Wales, and his eventual role as king. William is also offering a lot more of his views and his guidance to the king and coming into his own with a new confidence.”</p>

<p id=”par-7_57″>When asked if he thinks their relationship has changed much since Charles ascended the throne, Harrold opined, “I don’t think there is a huge difference in their relationship. Obviously, the king’s got a lot more responsibilities, and he is a lot busier. They probably don’t see each other as much as they used to, but that’s all.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_96″>British broadcaster Helena Chard told <a href=”https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/king-charles-sends-defiance-message-prince-william-buckingham-palace-room-offer-harry-expert” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Fox News Digital</a> that the Waleses are in lockstep with their stance on the Duke of Sussex and that differs from King Charles’ because “Where Charles may want to smooth things over, to play peacemaker with Harry, William and Catherine are determined to set boundaries. Charles is reigning, but William and Catherine are planning. And that planning is starting to look a lot like leading. Charles wants healing. William and Catherine want survival and stability. William is not doing this to be difficult. He’s doing it because he believes it’s right.”</p>
