Thus, Brides described the traditional fruitcake recipe as “baked with plenty of dried fruit, chopped walnuts, and chopped dates to produce a hearty cake.”</p>

<p id=”par-9_52″>The story continued, “The dried fruits are reconstituted by soaking in alcohol or fruit juices to add moisture before being incorporated into a sugar, spices, butter, and flour batter. Then, the cake is typically covered in marzipan and finished with royal icing. It’s a harder frosting that produces a beautifully smooth texture.”</p>
