He spoke to <a href=”https://www.mensjournal.com/health-fitness/how-ben-affleck-got-big-for-batman-v-superman-w199882″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Men’s Journal</a> about meeting the audience’s expectations regarding his physique. </p>
<p id=”par-8_61″>“I knew that a big part of the audience’s expectation around the role would be how I looked physically,” Affleck told the publication. “And that was something I had some control over. If I was going to fail in this role, I wasn’t going to let it be in a way that could have been prevented if I had worked harder.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_33″>Affleck’s incredible musculature for the role was achieved with help from trainer Walter Norton Jr. of the Institute of Performance and Fitness. Based in Boston, Norton flew out weekly to meet with Affleck. </p>
<p id=”par-10_40″>“Getting ready for this role meant working hard, day in and day out, with Walter,” Affleck added. “But it was the kind of work where I felt gains in not only my size but also my mental and physical health.”</p>
