While Kody felt the situation was “awkward” all the way around, he was incredibly shocked that his daughter, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/sister-wives-maddie-brown-brush-explains-the-difficult-medical-decision-she-made-for-her-daughter.html/”>Maddie Brush</a>, refused to let him interact with her young children during the event. Janelle Brown is stepping forward to explain what really happened.</p>

<p id=”par-2_50″>Kody Brown found plenty of things to dislike about attending his son’s wedding, but he took aim at Maddie Brush in particular during a recent <em>Sister Wives</em> episode. The father of 18 said Maddie “shuffled” her children away from him and wouldn’t let him connect with his grandson and granddaughter.</p>

<p id=”par-3_42″>Kody theorized that his children are cold towards him because he wasn’t in love with their mothers. He insists they are “punishing” him when they shouldn’t be, but the only person who seems to believe that is the reason is Kody himself.</p>

<p id=”par-4_65″>Kody Brown might claim<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/sister-wives-star-kody-brown-fomo-splits-original-wives.html/”> he suffers from “FOMO,”</a> but it seems he suffers more from “out of sight, out of mind.” While he was angry that Maddie kept her kids separated from him during family events, he didn’t do the work to be an active figure in their lives. He, however, refuses to accept the natural consequences of his actions. Janelle Brown explained it all.</p>

<p id=”par-5_81″>Maddie’s mother won’t let Kody disparage her on <em>Sister Wives</em>. The mother of six was quick to explain precisely why Maddie Brush opted to keep her kids away from Kody Brown during<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/michelle-petty-says-she-doesnt-know-why-tlc-made-her-wedding-a-big-secret.html/”> Logan and Michelle’s wedding</a>, a decision he bemoaned. Janelle explained that Kody hadn’t seen Maddie’s children in years and had not tried to remain connected to them in any significant way. She said Maddie’s decision was not made out of malice but instead out of concern for her kids.</p>
<p id=”par-6_58″>Janelle said Maddie was concerned about introducing a “sporadic” figure into her young children’s lives. There was no reason to allow them to spend time with their grandfather while they were in Las Vegas, only for him to have no contact with them when they returned home. Her goal was to protect her children and avoid any confusion.</p>

<p id=”par-7_67″>Logan and Michelle’s wedding occurred in October 2022 while Maddie was pregnant with her third child. After the wedding, Maddie and her family returned to North Carolina, where they welcomed Josephine Brush in February 2023. It appears that Kody has never traveled to meet up with the Brush family on the East Coast, and they seem to avoid his house while visiting friends and family back west.</p>

<p id=”par-8_91″>Based on the timing of things, it seems likely that Kody has never met Maddie’s third child, and that seems unlikely to change.<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/its-time-for-a-new-business-and-a-new-baby-for-1-sister-wives-star.html/”> Maddie is currently pregnant </a>with her fourth child. The new arrival is due in March 2025, and with Janelle now living in North Carolina, too, they have very few reasons to head back to Flagstaff, where Kody and Robyn still reportedly reside. The family will remain fractured unless Kody does the work to reconcile with his adult children. He doesn’t seem keen on the idea of doing that.</p>
