Tiger Woods has officially confirmed his romance with Vanessa Trump, turning the heads of the public. Woods has had his fair share of scandals through the years, and the professional golfer isn’t afraid to hard launch his new relationship no matter the potential backlash. So, is Woods a Republican? Here’s what we know about his political affiliation.

Is Tiger Woods a Republican? Here’s what we know

Tiger Woods has never outright stated his political affiliation, though his current relationship has fans wondering whether he supports the Republican party. On March 23, 2025, Woods hard-launched his relationship with Vanessa Trump on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DHjzzWIMzL5/?img_index=2″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram. He posted two photos with Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife — one posing side by side, and another cuddling in a hammock.

“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side!” Woods captioned the post. “We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.”

So, where does Woods stand in his politics? Given his new relationship and recent past with Donald Trump, fans seem to think he’s right-leaning. In February 2025, Woods appeared alongside the president at a White House ceremony for a Black History Month celebration.

Duke University Professor of Cultural Anthropology and History, Orin Starn, told <a href=”https://www.newsweek.com/tiger-woods-donald-trump-relationship-political-liv-golf-2034134″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Newsweek that Woods and Donald’s relationship makes sense, as they’re both avid golfers. “They’re two of the biggest player[s] — the greatest golfer of his generation and a golf-nut president who owns sixteen courses across four countries, and loves hanging out with top pros,” Starn said.

In 2018, Woods talked about his friendship with Donald. He didn’t give a clear answer on where he stands politically. Rather, he stated that he respects the president no matter what.

“Well, he’s the president of the United States. You have to respect the office,” Woods said during an interview at Ridgewood Country Club, according to <a href=”https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/24485892/tiger-woods-president-trump-all-respect-office” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>ESPN. “No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”

In contrast to Donald, Woods also played golf with past presidents such as George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.

Golf fans may never know whether Tiger Woods voted for Donald Trump or Kamala Harris in the 2025 election. However, another golfer stands with Woods’ comments on politics. Retired pro, Jack Nicklaus, said he “couldn’t have agreed with Tiger more” when it comes to supporting whoever is in office as president.

“I couldn’t have agreed with Tiger more,” Nicklaus said on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive, according to <a href=”https://golfweek.usatoday.com/story/sports/golf/2018/08/29/jack-nicklaus-wholeheartedly-agrees-with-tiger-woods-political-comments/76606593007/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Golfweek. “Whether it’s Barack Obama or Donald Trump in the office of the president, you respect the office. My political views might be different than somebody else’s political views, but it doesn’t make any difference. The office of the president is the head of the greatest country in the world.”

“I think Tiger was very appropriate with what he said, and I couldn’t agree with him more,” Nicklaus concluded.

The golf pro said playing with Barack Obama was ‘pretty cool’

While Tiger Woods plays golf with President Donald Trump more often these days, he once hit the course with Barack Obama. In 2013, he called Obama a “wonderful person” after playing with him.

“He calls up and says, ‘Hey, Tiger, want to play?’” Woods laughed during an interview shared by the <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBBuQgb3cOc” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Associated Press. “Obviously, there is a process that’s involved. I was invited to play. It was an invitation that you certainly don’t turn down, especially, he’s an avid golfer, and so am I. He’s a pretty good athlete. We all know he plays a lot of hoop. … But, to see him out there and hitting shots. I mean, he hit it well. … He’s got an amazing touch. … Playing with Mr. President was pretty cool. He’s just a wonderful person to be around.”

In 2025, Obama might help put Woods’ life on the big screen. Amazon MGM Studios bought the film rights to The Tiger Slam, a biography about Woods by Kevin Cook. The Obamas are in talks to produce the movie through their company, Higher Ground.
