<p id=”par-1_67″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/alec-baldwin/?swcfpc=1″>Alec Baldwin</a>’s new reality show isn’t shying away from the controversy that recently engulfed the actor’s life. In the first trailer for the <em>30 Rock </em>star’s <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/the-baldwins-new-tlc-series-alec-baldwin-family.html/?swcfpc=1″>new TLC series, <em>The Baldwins</em></a> (premiering Feb. 23), his wife Hilaria Baldwin opens up about the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, whom Alec fatally shot in a tragic accident on the set of the film <em>Rust </em>in October 2021. <em> </em></p>

<p id=”par-2_36″><em>The Baldwins </em>is a warts-and-all look inside <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/reporter-followed-alec-hilaria-baldwin-new-york-residence-didnt-go-well.html/”>Alec and Hilaria</a>’s “wild” life with their seven kids (and six animals) in New York. That includes sharing how the family managed following the fatal shooting of Hutchins. <strong> </strong></p>
<p id=”par-3_37″>“A son lost his mom in the most unthinkable tragedy,” Hilaria says as the camera pans over an aerial view of the <em>Rust </em>set. “This is never something to forget, and we’re trying to parent through it.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_43″>Alec doesn’t comment directly on the shooting in the trailer. However, there is a glimpse of him appearing to break down in tears during an interview segment. Later, he tells Hilaria that he isn’t sure he’d be able to cope without her support. </p>
<p id=”par-5_23″>“Honestly, from the bottom of my soul, I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you and these kids,” he says.</p>

<p id=”par-6_35″>Alec Baldwin was rehearsing a scene from <em>Rust </em>when <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/alec-baldwin-admits-career-over-following-fatal-rust-accident-couldnt-give-career-anymore.html/”>the tragic shooting</a> occurred more than three years ago. The actor drew his gun, which then discharged, killing Hutchins. The film’s director, Joel Souza, was injured. </p>
<p id=”par-7_31″>Baldwin has said that he thought the prop weapon was “cold” and did not contain live rounds of ammunition. He’s also said that he never intentionally pulled the gun’s trigger. </p>
<p id=”par-8_39″>In 2022, Baldwin and <em>Rust </em>producers settled a civil case with Hutchins’ family. “Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son,” he said in a statement shared on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/CjVZ-9GO0z-/?hl=en” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram</a>. </p>
<p id=”par-9_75″>Meanwhile, prosecutors in New Mexico announced that they intended to pursue involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin. In July 2024, he went on trial. Days later, the judge dismissed the case after she determined prosecutors had withheld evidence from the defense. In December, prosecutors said they would no longer pursue charges against the actor. Soon after, Baldwin sued prosecutors for malicious prosecution, alleging that they intentionally concealed evidence as part of an effort to convict him. </p>
<p id=”par-10_21″><em>Rust</em>’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March 2024. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison.</p>
