<p id=”par-5_104″>In season 1, episode 6, Emily and Richard Gilmore travel to Stars Hollow for Rory’s 16th birthday party. During the party, Emily watched Luke and Lorelai interact and decided the duo must be a couple. When she had Lorelai alone, she questioned how long they had been dating and noted Lorelai was “pleased” with herself because of Luke’s attraction to her. While Luke and Lorelai’s chemistry was clear from the start, Emily’s comments in season 1 were the first time anyone approached the topic head-on. It took several more seasons for them to get together and 16 years to get them down the aisle.</p>
