<p id=”par-1_58″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/prince-harry/?swcfpc=1″>Prince Harry</a>‘s name has been in the headlines a lot the last few days but not for reasons the duke wants. On March 27, it was reported that Harry and his friend Prince Seeiso of Lesotho both resigned as from the charity Sentebale which was founded in memory of their late mothers <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/can-remember-when-princess-diana-died.html/”>Princess Diana</a> and Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. </p>
<p id=”par-2_109″>In a joint statement, the princes said: “What’s transpired is unthinkable. We are in shock that we have to do this, but we have a continued responsibility to Sentebale’s beneficiaries, so we will be sharing all of our concerns with the Charity Commission as to how this came about … With heavy hearts, we have resigned from our roles as patrons of the organization until further notice, in support of and solidarity with the board of trustees who have had to do the same … It is devastating that the relationship between the charity’s trustees and the chair of the board broke down beyond repair, creating an untenable situation.”</p>
<p id=”par-3_113″>Sentebale’s chairwoman, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, accused the Duke of Sussex of “bullying” and “harassment” and relased a statement of her own (via <a href=”https://people.com/prince-harry-devastated-as-he-quits-african-charity-sentebale-founded-princess-diana-honor-11703464″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People)</a> that read: “There are people in this world who behave as though they are above the law and mistreat people, and then play the victim card and use the very press they disdain to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct. The story of a woman who dared to blow the whistle about issues of poor governance, weak executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, misogynoir — and the coverup that ensued … I will continue to faithfully perform my role as Chair of the Board.”</p>

<p id=”par-4_33″>It’s been reported that Harry sent Chandauka an “unpleasant” and “imperious” message after she declined to do something for <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/prince-harry-was-able-to-marry-meghan-markle-because-she-didnt-do-this-1-thing-in-her-past.html/”>his wife</a>, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/meghan-markle/?swcfpc=1″>Meghan Markle</a>, following <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/meghan-markles-awkward-moment-trying-get-woman-away-prince-harry-netflix-cameras-roll.html/”>an awkward encounter</a> caught on camera in 2024. </p>

<p id=”par-6_67″> On April 12, 2024, as Netflix cameras were rolling for Harry’s<em> Polo</em> docuseries, Meghan took the stage to present the trophy to her husband’s team following their victory at a Sentebale fundraising match. In the video footage of the moment shared online, the Duchess of Sussex repeatedly asks Dr. Chandauka to come stand next to her instead of Prince Harry before any other photos are taken. </p>
<p id=”par-7_19″>Chandauka could then be seen having to duck under the trophy to stand where Meghan wanted her to. </p>

<p id=”par-8_84″>But when the video started making the rounds, Meghan received backlash for telling Chandauka what to do. Harry’s team then told the chairwoman to issue a statement and quash any rumours about tensions with Meghan. However, she refused to do so which did not sit well with the prince. He then allegedly contacted her directly and let her know how unhappy he was going to be if she didn’t put something out to take the heat off his wife, but still she declined. </p>
<p id=”par-9_14″><a href=”https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2025/03/31/prince-harry-allegedly-sent-unpleasant-message-charity-boss/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Telegraph</a> alleged that Harry then demanded she “explain herself” and used “imperious” language.</p>
<p id=”par-10_80″>Chandauka explained: “There was a lot of talk about the duchess and the choreography on stage and whether she should have been there and her treatment of me. Prince Harry asked me to issue some sort of a statement in support of the duchess, and I said I wouldn’t. Not because I didn’t care about the duchess, but because I knew what would happen if I did so, number one. And number two, because we cannot be an extension of the Sussexes.”</p>

<p id=”par-12_105″>Rayner told the <a href=”https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-14556141/ALISON-BOSHOFF-Grief-stricken-Prince-Harry-feels-like-hes-one-fingers-cut-amid-charity-chaos-friends-reveal-hes-total-shock.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Daily Mail</a> that Harry was “happy” for him to speak on his behalf and shared: “H is very happy for me to speak for him about how he feels about this awful situation. He is just beyond heartbroken and flabbergasted that the charity he founded as a teenager has been taken hostage by the chair. It feels tantamount to a hostile takeover. He is so upset and hurt and wounded about the things that are being said about him. I think it’s too early to tell whether he will just walk away now or whether he might try and get it back.</p>
<p id=”par-13_53″>“The way he feels is as if he has had one of his fingers cut off. He set up Sentebale with a school friend when the death of his mum was a fresh memory. At the moment, he is just in total shock about what is being said and the accusations being made.”</p>
<p id=”par-14_56″>Rayner added that Harry also believes that some of Chandauka’s heated comments may be because she’s jealous of Meghan, saying: “It feels like [Dr. Chandauka] had her nose put out of joint because she was not the most important woman of color on the stage. There is an undercurrent of stink here because Meghan showed up.”</p>
