The couple admires one another’s solo music as well. Shelton said that he has many songs he admires by Stefani. There’s one that particularly stands out, though.</p>

<p id=”par-9_37″>“He’s done so much music,” Stefani said. “There’s a song called ‘Mine Would Be You.’ I love that. I was like, ‘God, that song’s so good.’ But there’s so many good ones. He’s written some amazing songs.”</p>
<p id=”par-10_35″>She said that she likes being with a songwriter because he writes about her. She has written about people in her life, and now she has the opportunity to experience the other side of things.</p>
<p id=”par-11_38″>“He wrote a song about me, [and] it was really fun to have someone write a song ‘cause I’ve written so many songs about people,” she said. “But then to have one written about you is pretty exciting.”</p>

<p id=”par-13_62″>“I think he really wanted to impress me, because he doesn’t really write songs as much as he used to. And I love writing songs,” she told <a href=”https://people.com/gwen-stefani-recalls-chaos-early-days-dating-blake-shelton-not-happening-8751595″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>. “That’s everything to me. If I want to feel like I have any kind of purpose or any kind of value or anything, it’s about writing a song. That’s where I get my fulfillment.”</p>

He was like, ‘Help me finish this.’ So I wrote him the verse back — the second verse on the song — and it’s just over text,” she says. “That was our first song that we ever wrote together. We were never even in the same room, but we were writing a song to each other.”</p>
