She said that when Beyoncé was a young child, though, she never could have predicted the turn her life would take. Before Tina Knowles saw her daughter perform, she said she was so quiet that she often went overlooked.</p>

She said she felt horrified by the prospect but allowed her teacher to talk her into it. When she got onstage, though, she felt a change go over her. Suddenly, she was ready to perform.</p>
<p id=”par-3_43″>“I was terrified and I didn’t wanna do it, and she’s like, ‘C’mon, baby, get out there,’” Beyoncé told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/beyonce-talks-fame-relationships-starting-a-family-becoming-sasha-fierce-111695/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rolling Stone</a>. “I remember walking out and I was scared, but when the music started, I don’t know what happened. I just … changed.”</p>

<p id=”par-5_21″>“We thought, <em>Who is that</em>?” her mother told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a9721/the-liberation-of-b-271284/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Elle</a>. “Until then, you didn’t even notice when she walked into a room.”</p>

<p id=”par-7_72″>“I don’t have a split personality but I’m really very country and would rather have no shoes on and have my hair in a bun and no makeup,” she said. “And when I perform, this confidence and this sexiness and this whatever it is <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/beyonce-shared-refused-make-direct-eye-contact-during-live-performance.html/”>that I’m completely not</a> just happens. And you feel it, and you just start wildin’ and doin’ stuff that don’t even make sense, like the spirit takes over.” </p>
<p id=”par-8_11″>She said the transformation into her stage persona felt like magic.</p>
<p id=”par-9_36″>“That magic, that’s what I love,” she said. “If you see me on TV, I’m not a humble, shy person, but it’s a transformation into that. It’s a job. In real life I’m not like that.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_55″>Beyoncé’s eldest child, Blue Ivy Carter, has followed in her mother’s footsteps. She has joined her mother as a dancer during performances and recently appeared as a voice actor in the film <em>Mufasa: The Lion King</em>. Director Barry Jenkins said Carter impressed him on set, where she got the opportunity to work with her mother.</p>
<p id=”par-11_81″>“I think she’s just grown up [with] really wonderful tutelage from Beyoncé,” he said, per <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.hellomagazine.com/healthandbeauty/mother-and-baby/738770/beyonce-daughter-blue-ivy-dance-teacher-speaks-out-new-video-pre-teen-dancing/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Hello Magazine</a>. “And it was really dope to see a little bit of that mother-daughter dynamic make it into the film. What I loved was, they don’t have a lot of work together, but they would always be working on the same day, and it was really lovely to watch Beyoncé just be a mother and be there to support Blue Ivy. It was really wonderful.”</p>
