The pair have collaborated on <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/music/”>music</a> and performed at the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/super-bowl/?swcfpc=1″>Super Bowl</a> together. Martin once even wrote a song he hoped to hear Beyoncé record. She flatly refused to accept it from him, though. Martin shared why Beyoncé had no interest in the song.</p>

<p id=”par-2_33″>In 2016, Coldplay <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/beyonces-super-bowl-halftime-show-outfit-referenced-michael-jackson.html/”>performed at the Super Bowl</a> with Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. He said he felt great about the performance, but soon realized that people online were not as happy with it.</p>
<p id=”par-3_43″>“This very famous person emailed me, and she said, ‘Don’t worry about what everyone’s saying,’” he told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/coldplay-chris-martin-music-of-the-spheres-tour-future-1235204333/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rolling Stone</a> in 2024. “I was like, ‘What?’ I hadn’t looked at anything. Then I collapsed into the internet and became really down for a while.”</p>

<p id=”par-4_11″>Still, he said he wouldn’t have changed anything <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/coldplay-asked-advice-rihanna-super-bowl-halftime-performance.html/”>about the performance</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-5_12″>“And that was some kind of weird epiphany for me,” he said.</p>
<p id=”par-6_51″>Martin’s ability to move forward from criticism served him well when he tried to give Beyoncé a song called “Hook Up.” He told <a href=”https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/coldplays-chris-martin-gets-personal-inside-the-new-issue-87104/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rolling Stone</a> in a separate interview that she turned it down “in the sweetest possible way: She told me, ‘I really like you – but this is awful.”</p>

<p id=”par-7_20″>Beyoncé and Jay-Z met Chris Martin and his <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/gwyneth-paltrow-admitted-conscious-uncoupling-chris-martin-brutal.html/”>ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow</a>, in 2006. They said they all connected almost immediately. </p>
<p id=”par-8_39″>“We all became friends. I normally don’t do that, but [we vibed] in that particular case,” Paltrow told Howard Stern in 2015, per <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/pictures/beyonce-jay-zs-friendship-with-gwyneth-paltrow-chris-martin-pics/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Us Weekly</a>. “They’re the greatest people. They are funny and sweet, and self-aware and really intelligent.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_6″>Beyoncé also spoke glowingly about Paltrow.</p>

The guy’s humble, and he has a lovely family. It’s rare to meet such a genuinely good person.”</p>
