Damon’s marriage has been completely free of celebrity scandal, so it’s easy to see why Affleck feels a certain way about it.</p>

<p id=”par-2_62″>Damon always considered himself very fortunate that he and Luciana Barroso didn’t have to endure the same kind of attention that Affleck and his girlfriends did. Damon <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/matt-damons-wife-ben-affleck-girl-before-married.html/”>famously met his wife</a> Lucy while filming the comedy <em>Stuck On You</em>. But his meeting with Barroso, who was a bartender at the time, was the stuff of a romantic comedy all on its own.</p>
<p id=”par-3_31″>Damon was at Barroso’s bar when people started to notice him. The actor wanted a place to hide for a bit, so Barroso offered him some refuge from all the attention.</p>
<p id=”par-4_92″>“But he had started getting recognized and asked for pictures and autographs, and then it got kind of aggressive because people are drinking and stuff, and so he came and hid behind my bar … [wanting to] just hang out back there and have a drink. He says, ‘Oh, I saw you, and I really wanted to talk to you,’” Barrasso remembered in an interview with <a href=”https://www.vogue.com.au/celebrity/news/the-real-neverbeforeheard-story-of-how-matt-and-lucy-damon-met/news-story/823ebcc12e68ecc1f6f836db633599e6″>Vogue</a>. “So I put him to work with me! <p id=”par-5_29″>The two have described their connection that day as immediate. Two years after dating, they’d both exchange their wedding vows on December, 2005, and have been together ever since.</p>
<p id=”par-6_36″>Perhaps one of the things Damon enjoys most about his relationship is the lack of attention it gets. He’s seen what the other side of celebrity marriage looks like personally, and wants no part of it.</p>

The <em>Gigli </em>co-stars seem to have ended things for good after their shocking reunion. Afterward, reports floated around that Damon was acting as a sort of mediator between the two. Although Affleck is Damon’s best friend, he couldn’t help but to feel some sympathy toward the <em>Hustlers </em>actor, too.</p>
