<p id=”par-2_60″>In 2023, Amazon announced that it was developing a <em>Bosch </em>and <em>Bosch: Legacy </em><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/bosch-spinoff-jerry-edgar-works-amazon-jamie-hector-cant-wait.html/”>spinoff series about J. Edgar</a>. Jamie Hector – who played J. Edgar on seven seasons of <em>Bosch </em>– was supposed to reprise his role in the new show, which would follow the LAPD detective as he takes on an undercover FBI operation in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. </p>
<p id=”par-3_13″>“Can’t wait to get to work,” Hector <a href=”https://x.com/JamieHector/status/1623050977094893569″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>tweeted</a> after the show was announced. </p>
<p id=”par-4_52″>Now, Amazon has scuttled plans for the show, according to a recent report from <a href=”https://deadline.com/2024/10/whos-the-boss-sequel-bosch-j-edgar-spinoff-dead-amazon-1236107895/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Deadline.</a> Screenwriter Larry Andries and novelist Michael Connelly, who wrote the books that inspired the <em>Bosch </em>series, were executive producers on the show. In March 2024, Andries was charged with six counts of felony sexual assault, Deadline noted.</p>

Edgar series is not happening, Amazon is moving forward with another <em>Bosch </em>spinoff <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/new-bosch-spinoff-featuring-detective-renee-ballard-coming-prime-video.html/”>focused on Detective Renée Ballard</a>. Maggie Q will play the character, who is a detective in LAPD’s poorly funded, all-volunteer cold case unit. When she uncovers are larger conspiracy in the course of her investigations, she leans on retired detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) for support. </p>
<p id=”par-6_56″>Filming on the new series began in July 2024. A release date hasn’t been announced. Other cast members include Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, and Amy Hill. Ballard will also appear in a special crossover episode of the third (and final) season of <em>Bosch: Legacy, </em>which premieres in March 2025<em>.</em></p>
<p id=”par-7_32″>The Ballard character was created by Connelly and inspired by real-life LAPD detective Mitzi Roberts. In September, Maggie Q shared a photo of herself and Roberts on the set of the show.</p>

<p id=”par-9_16″>In an interview with <a href=”https://collider.com/bosch-spin-off-plot-details-titus-welliver/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Collider</a>, Welliver teased the spinoff and the introduction of the Ballard character.</p>
<p id=”par-10_121″>“Well, we introduced her in the tenth episode of season 3 of <em>Legacy</em>, which is coming out in 2025, and I am doing some episodes of the Ballard spin-off,” the actor said. “We have to keep the universes together. <em>Bosch</em> and <em>Bosch: Legacy</em> is the mothership of all things, but the brand is the brand, so you can’t do Robin without having Batman. Maggie Q is gonna kill me for saying that. She’s like, ‘Bullsh*t, man. Maybe I’m Batman, and you’re Robin.’ But she’s awesome as Ballard, so I’m excited for season 3 to come out because we pulled all the stops out. It’s a really tight, strong, strong season — one of our best, if not maybe our best. “</p>
