As we inch closer to the five-month anniversary of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, the updates are coming in fast and furious. Unfortunately, the authorities appear no closer to finding the octogenarian who disappeared in the dead of night on February 1. That doesn’t mean no one has information, though. An anonymous note writer has been contacting TMZ about information they claim to have regarding the people who abducted the mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie. They just sent another letter. Here’s everything we know.

A new letter regarding Nancy Guthrie has hit a news outlet

TMZ has received another email in the Nancy Guthrie case. This one comes from an anonymous sender claiming to possess video evidence tied to the 84-year-old’s disappearance. In the most recent note, the sender says the footage shows the “main guy” alongside Nancy, and claims to have the names, addresses, and ages of the alleged abductors.

The author alleges that a phone being held in a “secure location” contains all of the information that authorities will need to apprehend the individuals behind the kidnapping. The sender says the same phone holds a short video of the “main guy” with Nancy on what he claims was the last day she was alive. In exchange for the phone’s location, the sender is requesting one bitcoin.

TMZ has reported that it responded to the letter, requesting a single screengrab to prove the claims. The sender has yet to reply again.

Is the note authentic?

While it is unclear if the sender really has information about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, TMZ has authenticated that the note came from the same person who sent earlier messages proclaiming to have information about the abduction. The outlet notes that the bitcoin wallet address and alias remain consistent, suggesting the same sender is behind all of the letters.

This is far from the first email to come from the sender. The anonymous writer first contacted TMZ days after Nancy’s disappearance. The first messages emphasized a sense of urgency attached to the information, which gave onlookers hope that the octogenarian was alive. Follow-up emails, however, suggested there was no longer urgency, indicating Nancy may have died. Another message pointed to a burial site, while another suggested she had been taken to Sonora, Mexico, a border state several hours from Tucson, where Nancy was last seen.

While TMZ has floated the idea of paying for the information, the FBI has not done so, at least publicly. This story is still developing.
