During a Fox News interview with his daughter-in-law, former RNC co-chair Lara Trump, President Donald Trump was asked about the upcoming primary elections in California on Tuesday. Trump endorsed former Fox News star Steve Hilton for Governor and has spoken favorably of former reality TV star Spencer Pratt, who is running for Mayor of Los Angeles.
Ms. Trump asked her father-in-law, “Any predictions in what we might see, happen in California, despite the fact that we know it’s a little wonky there?” The President of the United States replied, “You know, they don’t have voting booths. Everything’s by mail.”
[NOTE: While a large majority of votes in California are cast by mail — for the 2024 primary elections about 88% of votes were mailed, with about 80% in the general election — that doesn’t mean “there are no voting booths.”]
President Trump, once again, is lying.
Californians have several ways to ensure their vote is counted, including:

California Attorney General Rob Bonta responded to Trump’s claim on social media: “President Trump, once again, is lying. Californians have several ways to ensure their vote is counted, including: – Vote in-person at a vote center. (Where, yes, there are voting booths. Lots of them) -Drop off your completed ballot at a vote center. – Drop off your completed ballot at a secure ballot drop box.”
On Friday, California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber reported, “More than 2.9 million vote-by-mail ballots have already been returned and accepted for the California Primary Election.”
[NOTE: Trump, who has repeatedly argued that American elections are “rigged,” also told his daughter-in-law that he doesn’t think a Republican can win a gubernatorial election in California unless Congress passes the SAVE Act, because “then they’re gonna have to show proof of citizenship, they’re gonna have to get rid of their mail-in voting.”]
