Days before the Democratic U.S. Senate race primary in Texas on Tuesday, former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris endorsed Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) to unseat the incumbent, four-term Republican Senator John Cornyn, who is fighting for his party’s nomination against MAGA-aligned Attorney General Ken Paxton.
While Crockett’s Democratic opponent, State Rep. James Talarico, like her a critic of President Trump, has been campaigning in red Trump districts with a message of “a politics of love,” Crockett is staying on point with her more severe anti-Trump messaging.
After the President announced the U.S.-Israel joint attack on Iran this weekend, a massive bombing campaign undertaken without congressional approval, Crockett wrote on social media: “Why is it that this President refuses to even pretend that he cares about following the law?! I’ve been stomping & telling people that this election is life or death! CONGRESS, not the PRESIDENT, but CONGRESS has the EXCLUSIVE authority to declare war!”

She added: “Speaker Johnson needs to call us in IMMEDIATELY & it is time for the House & the Senate to pass a war powers resolution! This is how you prove your love and respect for the constitution. This is how you show your constituents that you are truly patriots! It is time for us, collectively, as Dems and Repubs to stand up to this President. Please call your reps in the house and the senate and urge them to take a vote on a war powers resolution!”

Note: Talarico responded to the attack on Iran on social media with just four words: “No more forever wars.” Cornyn said Trump’s decision took “political courage” and Paxton said “Operation Epic Fury is yet another overwhelming and historic military success,” and that the U.S. “has never been safer.”
