At the Senate hearing today with President Trump’s Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio, Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) used her last minute to suggest that Rubio, the “chief diplomat” of the United States, was absent from the high-stakes negotiation talks with Iranians in Pakistan on April 11-12, 2026.
Rosen said: “I was shocked to see that you were at a party with President Trump in Miami instead of accompanying Vice President Vance to Pakistan for negotiations.”
When Rubio asked, “What party was I at? I was at a party?” Rosen replied, “Publicly reported, and there’s photos there.”

Rubio argued, “No, no, no, but you’re gonna say that, I’m going to answer it. I’m gonna answer that question. Cause that’s an absurd statement. I was not at a party. If people are going to slander me I’m going to answer it.”
When Rosen’s time was up, Rubio told Rosen she was “100 percent wrong.”
The Secretary of State said: “I wasn’t at a party where I was next to the President.” He added, “because in the midst of those negotiations, I was in communications with them,” and asserted that on “multiple occasions I went into a back room, came back out and spoke to the President, was constantly updating him.”

Rubio added that he spoke with the negotiations team “at least six times that night, including twice on a secure line from the phone they had access to over there. So you don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re making stuff up.”
Several X users responded to Rubio’s reaction by sharing photos of him with President Trump at a UFC event in Miami on April 11.
Rubio was NOT, in fact, doing the job he was confirmed to do; he was hanging with trump at the UFC match.
