MAGA-aligned Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) criticized fellow House Republican Maria Elvira Salazar‘s (R-FL) “Dignity Act” by claiming it would grant “mass amnesty” to undocumented immigrants in the U.S. “and would constitute a terrible betrayal of our voters.”
Salazar used President Trump’s signature all-caps style in her response to Gill, 32, the youngest sitting House Republican. She wrote: “READ. THE. BILL. BEFORE. YOU. OPEN. YOUR. MOUTH. Calling the DIGNITY Act ‘amnesty’ isn’t just wrong. It’s a deliberate distortion and it exposes just how little you know about the bill.”

[NOTE: The DIGNITY Act doesn’t give blanket amnesty. It creates a Dignity Program for undocumented immigrants continuously present since December 31, 2020 (an estimated 10.5M are eligible). Qualifiers get 7-year deferred action (halting deportation, plus work/travel authorization), then renewable Dignity Status if they pass background checks, pay $7K restitution + back taxes + 1% payroll levy, report biannually to DHS, stay employed/schooled, and remain crime-free. No citizenship path, no federal benefits.”]
