Going into the 2026-2027 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls are well aware of the idea that their roster is going to look a lot different by the time the season concludes.
Being in a rebuilding situation, only a very few young core players are going to stick around. Everybody else is on the block by default.
As the Bulls could get linked to a handful of trade block candidates throughout the year, one Bulls-focused writer suggested that Scoot Henderson should be on their radar.

“Kicking the tires on a player like Henderson is the kind of buy-low move Chicago needs to be making right now,” Pippen Ain’t Easy’s Andrew Hanlon wrote.
“The former G League Ignite star has had an up-and-down first three seasons in the league after being taken third overall in the 2023 draft. Still, he’s only 22 years old and carries the pedigree of a prospect who was mentioned in a tier just below Victor Wembanyama.”
Henderson surely made the 2023 NBA Draft slightly more interesting, as he did what he could to challenge the idea that Victor Wembanyama was the clear No. 1 pick.
Obviously, the San Antonio Spurs didn’t bat an eye, rightfully so. And the Charlotte Hornets didn’t buy the hype either, as they selected Brandon Miller at No. 2.
Henderson went off the board at No. 3 with the Portland Trail Blazers. Between his Ignite days, and his first three seasons in the NBA, it’s safe to say that Henderson has fallen under the “underwhelming” category.
But that’s where the Bulls could be helpful. Again, this is a buy-low and hope idea–not a sell-the-farm and instantly boost title odds move.

As a rookie, Henderson started roughly half of his 62 appearances. He struggled with his shot, making 38.5% from the field, producing 14.0 points per game. He also racked up 5.4 assists per game and came down with 3.1 rebounds per game.
During his sophomore effort, Henderson was a reserve for all but 10 of his 66 games. He shot slightly better (41.9%), while posting averages of 12.7 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.0 rebounds.
While navigating through an injury-filled third season, Henderson appeared in 30 games. He averaged a career-high 14.2 points, but still struggled with his efficiency, making just 41.8% of his field goals.
Henderson is playing through the final year of his deal in 2026-2027. He is set to make $13.5 million in 2026-2027.
If the Bulls are interested, there is a decent chance the Blazers would be open to a discussion surrounding the former G League star.
