For Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, there is a tendency to keep his discussions with the media to what happens on the field and to leading his teammates in practice and, now, in training camp. But there is also no hiding the fact that Prescott was set to have a high-profile marriage to his longtime girlfriend and fiancee Sarah Jane Ramos–with whom he has two daughters–in April.
But after a joint bachelor and bachelorette party in the Bahamas in March, the two called off the wedding and have been split up since. Prescott has not talked much about the ending of his relationship in the months since, at least until this week in Oxnard, when he sat down with veteran ABC reporter Newy Scruggs at training camp.
Cowboys Carrying High 2026 Expectations
Prescott has been bold about his expectations for the Cowboys, and has been vocal about his intentions to lead the team to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are coming off a 7-9-1 season, but have revamped the defense and are hopeful that the offense can repeat (or exceed) its production from a year ago.
But that is Prescott as a quarterback. As a man, he said he is still handling his off-field life and coping with everything that happened. He said his faith has been a big part of that.
Said Prescott: “I’m great, I’m blessed. As I said, I’m a follower of Christ. And, you know, just having the faith that I do, it’s always been something, a superpower in a sense, that I’ve had is my faith. And, so, it won’t change. It’s, you know, I won’t even say it gets shaken just because things happen, things don’t necessarily go my way or the way that I thought they would, doesn’t necessarily affect the way that I wake up each morning.
“I’m grateful my feet hit the ground. I’m grateful to breathe the air that I do and to be where I’m at.”
Dak Prescott’s Cowboys Role Not Affected
Prescott added in the interview that his personal turmoil has not affected him in his role with the Cowboys. He is coming off a year in which he threw for 4,552 yards with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and is an early candidate for the MVP award this year.
Prescott add: “I’ve got too many blessings to look at my trials. And I’m just super thankful for the opportunity that I have to be where I am and to have two amazing daughters, to be able to play the quarterback position for this organization and still inspire so many.
“Adversity is going to come. It’s inevitable. And if you know how to respond to it, and if you can respond to it consistently, you can get over it.”
Dak Prescott-Sarah Jane Ramos Relationship ‘Beyond Repair’
After the wedding was called off this winter, TMZ reported that the relationship between Ramos and the Cowboys QB had hit a rough patch for several months before. Still, Ramos and their kids had been regulars around the Cowboys for years.
