Man killed, another wounded in South Shore shooting

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting late Tuesday in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The shooting happened around 11:55 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Chappel Avenue, police said in a statement.

One man, 35, suffered gunshot wounds to the back and chest and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where police said he was later pronounced, police said.

The other man, 42, was shot in his back and arm, and was taken to the same hospital in critical condition, police said.


Police said no one was in custody.
