A man was killed Sunday night after being struck by an SUV in Gage Park, Chicago police said.
A gray SUV had been traveling southbound in the 5100 block of South Western Avenue at a high rate of speed when it struck an adult man at about 10:47 p.m., police said.
The man suffered bodily trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim was a 63-year-old man, according to Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office records.
After striking the pedestrian, the SUV lost control and struck a fixed object, police said. The driver was not injured.
Following the initial crash, a blue sedan traveling westbound also struck the fixed object in the roadway. The driver declined medical attention, police said.
The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating. No further information was available Monday morning, police said.
