One person was killed Tuesday, July 21 in a collision involving a motorist driving a black sedan the wrong way on the 405 Freeway in Hawthorne, authorities said.
The motorist was reported driving southbound at 80 mph in northbound lanes at 12:49 a.m. around Imperial Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One minute later, an officer reported that there was a collision just south of Rosecrans Avenue, leaving one vehicle in the carpool lane and one on the right shoulder that was catching fire, according to the CHP’s online log.
At least three vehicles suffered damage.
