Los Angeles Dodgers Make Shohei Ohtani Move Before White Sox Game

The Los Angeles Dodgers play Game 2 of their three-game series against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, June 13 at 1:10 P.M. PST. Yesterday, the Dodgers lost 8-2 in the Southside.

However, the Dodgers were without a key player in their lineup. Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani left Thursday’s win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the seventh inning after sliding into second base after a stolen base attempt. After the game, the Dodgers announced that he left the game with knee inflammation.

Today, is a different story.

Shohei Ohtani Back in the Lineup For Los Angeles Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers reporter David Vassegh shared to X just under three hours before first pitch, that Shohei Ohtani will be back in the lineup against the Chicago White Sox.

Shohei Ohtani in #Dodgers Lineup today,” Vassegh wrote.

Ohtani’s absence was notable in the Dodgers’ 8-2 loss in the series opener.

During the series finale against the Pirates, Ohtani was removed from the game after a stolen base attempt.

“Shohei Ohtani first felt something in his knee/hamstring area after a stolen base attempt on what wound up being a foul ball earlier in the game, Dave Roberts said Roberts described the decision to remove him as being proactive,” per Dodgers’ beat writer Jack Harris.

Luckily for the two-way star, manager Dave Roberts had low concern about his knee injury following his exit on Thursday.

Before yesterday’s game, Dodgers’ sideline reporter Kirsten Watson, explained that Ohtani underwent imaging on his left which presented “normal wear and tear.”

#Dodgers Dave Roberts shared that Shohei Ohtani had imaging on his left knee this morning, which presented ‘normal wear and tear’,” Watson wrote on X. “They are hopeful he will be in the lineup tomorrow, if not, on Sunday. Dave Roberts added, it’s ‘not an IL situation.’”

In 2019, Ohtani suffered a knee injury which led to surgery to repair a bipartite patella, ending his season with the Los Angeles Angels to be cut short. His previous injury caused for a bit of concern after it was revealed that his exit was due to knee inflammation.

Thankfully, Ohtani is back in the lineup just two days later.

Roberts also expects Ohtani to be ready for his next pitching appearance on Wednesday, June 17 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
