On Thursday afternoon, the Chicago Cubs will finish their series with the Colorado Rockies in Denver.
The Cubs have lost each of the first two games in the series, so they will look to avoid getting swept.

Earlier in the week, the Cubs announced the news that they have released Jeff Brigham from their organization.
Brigham did not appear in a game for the Cubs.
MLB.com wrote (on June 9): “Iowa Cubs released RHP Jeff Brigham.”

Brigham was picked in the 4th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.
He played the first four years of his career with the Miami Marlins.
In that span, Brigham went 3-7 with a 4.52 ERA in 53 games.

Following Miami, the 34-year-old had stops with the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Over 94 career games, Brigham has gone 4-10 with a 4.85 ERA.
He had signed with the Cubs on a Minor League deal over the offseason.
Patrick Mooney of The Athletic had written on March 21: “In their latest round of roster cuts, the Cubs sent infielders Jefferson Rojas and B.J. Murray and right-handed pitcher Jeff Brigham to minor-league camp. On the last weekend of spring training, the club still has 41 players in major-league camp.”

It will be interesting to see if another team takes a chance on Brigham before the end of the 2026 season.

The Cubs are currently 34-34 in 68 games, which has them as the fourth-place team in the National League Central.
They have gone 3-7 over their last ten games (and are 14-19 in 33 games on the road).
