The entire NBA world had its eyes fixed on the Milwaukee Bucks-Giannis Antetokounmpo situation. Following a turbulent year, reports indicate the Bucks are open to trading their two-time MVP.
The Miami Heat are one of the frontrunners to acquire the Greek superstar. According to @Fullcourtpass on X, the Heat have a player that the Bucks may be interested in.Â
âIt is expected that the Milwaukee Bucks would want to keep Tyler Herro in a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, per @fmaddenNBA,â the source wrote on X.
This suggests that Milwaukee views the 26-year-old guard as a high-value target who could anchor their post-Antetokounmpo era. especially given his Wisconsin roots. Herro coincidentally has ties to the city being a Milwaukee native and he offers an immediate scoring punch to the team.
Miami Heatâs Stance on Herro in an Antetokounmpo Trade

The Heat had made their intentions known way before now. They had sought a move for Antetokounmpo before the February trade deadline.Â
According to reports, Miamiâs offer included Herro, Kelâel Ware, and their first-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, which turned out to be No. 13. There were also additional future first-round selections and some reports even indicated that Jaime Jaquez Jr. was included.Â
The Bucks reportedly liked elements of that package and were close to considering a deal but held off, hoping for even better bids and returns this offseason.
Miami will be back with an improved offer but will still center on moving Herro as the main exchange.Â
Herro is on an expiring contract valued at $120 million. It was a rookie scale extension he signed in 2022 and he was eligible for extension last summer but didnât come to an agreement on a lucrative deal. Â
The guard will be an unrestricted free agent next year which means that the Heat cannot leverage him for a trade then. Now is the time to act when they can get a big superstar like Antetokounmpo to boost their championship window.Â
It was always expected that the Bucks would demand a lot to move their franchise cornerstone. This means that not a lot of teams will be able to pursue a direct trade and few who can might only do so with a multi-team trade.
Luckily for Miami, they have a player the Bucks appreciate but they will toss in other pieces as well as draft assets to sweeten the deal. Antetokounmpo is also reportedly keen on remaining in the East.Â
Why a Herro-Centered Deal Makes Sense for the Bucks

Herro makes sense for Milwaukeeâs rebuild. He has a proven production and would give the Bucks a dynamic offensive centerpiece.
Herro is a consistent 20-point average player and the Bucks excluding Antetokounmpo, donât boast of any star that can do that.Â
An interesting few months will unfold as the Bucks will weigh Miamiâs strong bid with other franchises to see which deal aligns with their rebuilding era.Â
Missing the postseason for the first time in a decade was the ultimate turmoil between Antetokounmpo and the Bucks and moving on now will be beneficial for both parties. Milwaukee cannot afford a situation in which its most valuable superstar leaves for free while it can flip him for assets now.Â
