Life just got a whole lot easier for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and anyone else who tries to pass a football in the AFC North Division this season.
Jackson, a 2-time NFL MVP, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and 4-time NFL MVP Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers all breathed a huge sigh of relief thanks to the news of the NFL’s biggest offseason blockbuster trade on Monday, after the Cleveland Browns traded edge rusher and 2-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams.
Garrett has 14.0 sacks in 16 career games against the Ravens since he was selected by the No. 1 overall pick by the Browns in the 2017 NFL draft.
Now agreed to and official: The Browns are trading Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Rams for star edge Jared Verse, a 2027 1st-round, a 2028 2nd round, and a 2029 3rd,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport wrote on his official X account. “The offseason’s biggest trade is final and real.”
The Browns’ 1st year head coach is former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
“Todd Monken double agent, Myles Garrett outta our Division/Conference, Trey Hendrickson now the rest rusher in the North, Lamar Jackson healthy & safe,” Ravens fan Cyclops wrote on X on Monday.
The trade for Garrett made the Rams automatic Super Bowl favorites, leapfrogging them over the Ravens, among others.
Garrett broke the NFL’s single-season sacks record with 23.0 sacks in 2025.
“As the Rams finalize their trade for Myles Garrett, they have become the new Super Bowl betting favorite, per DraftKings: Rams: +650, Ravens, Seahawks and Bills: +1000, Eagles and Chiefs: +1500, Patriots, Chargers and Packers: +1600,” ESPN’s Jamison Hensley wrote on X.
Ravens Fans React to Myles Garrett Trade
Ravens fans and NFL fans the world over went over the top in their reactions to Garrett being traded to the Rams — and out of the AFC North.
“(Garrett) sacked Lamar Jackson 5.5 times across two games in 2025 and now he’s leaving the AFC North,” Ravens reporter Sam Cohn wrote on X.
“Winners: Myles Garrett (my #1 Brown forever), Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson,” Browns fan Joe Marcello wrote on X. “Losers: Cleveland Browns fans, Jared Verse.”
“Lamar Jackson is free from Myles Garrett’s torture,” Ravens fan Isaiah wrote on X.
“Lamar Jackson is one happy guy today,” Ravens fan Ravens Wizard wrote on X.
Myles Garrett Terrorized Ravens Over Last Decade
In no small way, Garrett terrorized the Ravens from the moment the Browns selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft and never more in the final game he played against them with the Browns — a virtuoso 4-sack performance in a 23-16 loss to the Ravens on November 16.
“Lamar’s career just got extended by 5 years,” Ravens fan account The Flock Opinion wrote on its official X account.
Garrett’s departure comes at an interesting time for the Ravens, who made several huge moves at edge rusher this offseason. First, they pulled off a trade — then backed out of a trade — for Raiders All-Pro Maxx Crosby that would have sent 2 1st-round picks to Las Vegas.
They followed that up by signing former Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson to a 4-year, $112 million free-agent contract.
