Cindy McCain, executive director of the World Food Programme (WFP), shared photographs of the WFP warehouse in Dnipro, Ukraine after it had been hit by a missile strike.
McCain, the widow of the late U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and a devout supporter of Ukraine, wrote: “Absolutely unacceptable. This is what’s left of our @WFP warehouse after a missile strike in Dnipro, Ukraine—and the remaining food stocks for 130K people on the frontlines of war and hunger. These deliberate attacks MUST end. Aid workers and humanitarian assets are #NotATarget.”

McCain’s post is receiving fierce criticism on X, where many users with Ukrainian flags in their profiles are prodding McCain to blame Russia, by name, for the attacks and destruction.
As one commenter replied: “Please, name russia as the aggressor. When russia is not named, it allows them to lie, that it wasn’t them. Organisations like WFP owe it to the people they are supporting, and their own staff, to name evil. We all must. It isn’t just ‘a missile strike’, it was a russian strike.”
Scholar Vasilina Orlova, who has been declared a ‘foreign agent’ in Russia, also replied to McCain: “Yet again some unknown strike, as if it’s not Russia that is striking Dnipro, Ukraine. Until you learn to name the perpetrator, you will be losing your people and resources to these enigmatic strikes.”
As seen below, United24 — an initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — also shared photos of the WFP warehouse on X and titled the article, “Russia Destroys UN Humanitarian Warehouse in Dnipro.”

Chef José Andrés of World Central Kitchen — a global “food first responder” — also responded, naming the Russian president as the perpetrator.
Andrés wrote to McCain: “This can not continue @realDonaldTrump can you tell Putin to stop targeting humanitarians? I’m glad all people were safe Cindy…”
