Five CPD officers hurt while dispersing Near West Side crowd

Chicago police were dispersing a large crowd early Sunday morning when a car veered into them and injured five officers on the Near West Side.

The officers were on foot at around 3:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Loomis Street when a blue sedan hit them, according to Chicago police. The 18-year-old male driver then ran into a CPD car, a pole and a fence before coming to a stop.

Five officers were injured and taken to nearby hospitals in fair condition. The driver, who wasn’t injured, was arrested and charges are pending. A weapon was found in the car, police said.
