After ‘Little House on the Prairie, Another Michael Landon Series Is Getting a Reboot

<p id=”par-1_10″>Another heartwarming Michael Landon TV series is getting a reboot. </p>

<p id=”par-2_45″>Fox has announced that it’s developing a new version of <em>Highway to Heaven </em>for the 2027-28 broadcast season. The updated take on the show about an angel who is sent to earth will be helmed by Jason Katims of <em>Friday Night Lights </em>and <em>Parenthood. </em> </p>

<p id=”par-3_51″>“The series will introduce longtime fans and a new generation to the franchise’s timeless themes of compassion, humanity, and second chances,” while also introducing “an original spin to the unforgettable journey of a ‘probationary angel,’ who is sent to Earth to earn his wings by helping people in need,” per Fox.</p>

<p id=”par-4_39″>Michael Landon starred as the angel Jonathan Smith in the original series, which aired from 1984 to 1989 on NBC. Landon’s widow, Cindy Landon, is one of the producers of the new Fox show. No cast has been announced. </p>

<p id=”par-5_51″>The new of the <em>Highway to Heaven </em>reboot comes just weeks ahead of Netflix’s updated take on <em>Little House on the Prairie. </em>Landon played Charles “Pa” Ingalls in that popular series, which aired from 1974 to 1983 on NBC. Luke Bracey plays Pa in the new show, which premieres July 9.  </p>
