Sinner vs Ruud: The Road to the Italian Open Final
Each player’s road to the 2026 Italian Open Final was a little different.
Ruud defeated Karen Khachanov in three sets during the Quarter-Finals. Ruud scored 6-1, 1-6, and 6-2 to earn the victory. During Sinner’s Quarter-Final match, he dispatched Andrey Rublev in two sets, scoring 6-2 and 6-4.
In the Semi-Finals, it took Sinner three sets to walk away with a victory against Daniel Medvedev. The final scores for that match were 6-2, 5-7, and 6-4.
On the other hand, Ruud squared off against Luciano Darderi. In that match, Ruud made short work of Darderi by defeating him in two sets, both with a 6-1 score.
Sinner is looking for redemption this time around. During the 2025 Italian Open, Sinner fell to Carlos Alcaraz in two sets, losing 6-7 and 1-6.
