The famed comedian has made it abundantly clear that she’s not amused by a former reality TV star with no experience <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/the-hills-star-spencer-pratt-sad-reason-no-pictures-new-book.html/”>running for mayor of Los Angeles. </a>She’s doing something about it, too. Handler is using her expansive platform to get that message out. Her most recent statement has been the most telling.</p>

<p id=”par-2_126″>On May 15, Chelsea Handler decided to turn up the heat on her feud with Spencer Pratt. After the <em>Hills</em> alum appeared to be making headway in his mayoral campaign, Handler took to <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYXXwDot8in/”>Instagram</a> to share her thoughts. In the video, she argued that a “straight, white male former reality star that has no previous experience in government” should not be a legitimate political candidate, especially not one who would be put in the driver’s seat of one of the country’s largest and most important cities. Handler continued, asking, “Have we learned anything yet?” While she opted not to name any names, it’s clear she was referencing other celebrities who have used their popularity and lack of experience to claim political seats, like President Donald Trump.</p>

<p id=”par-3_80″>Handler did not endorse any political candidate in the video, though Pratt is running against incumbent Karen Bass. While Pratt appears to be gaining popularity within the city, Bass has the endorsement of several unions. Busy Philipps, Marissa Tomei, and Henry Winkler all reacted positively to Handler’s post. Pratt hit back, sharing a clip of Shane Gillis referencing her attendance at a <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/sarah-fergusons-connection-to-jeffrey-epstein-has-eveyone-reexamining-her-money-woes.html/”>dinner at Jeffrey Epstein’s hom</a>e. Handler has previously addressed the incident. He has celebrity backing of his own.</p>

<p id=”par-4_62″>Spencer Pratt filed his candidacy for Los Angeles mayor in January, sharing the news on Instagram and noting that his campaign was officially open. Pratt has insisted he was motivated to run after the government’s failure to support residents in the aftermath of <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/hotels-packed-millionaires-palisades-fires-rage-want-california-local-says.html/”>the Pacific Palisades fires</a>. His own home was destroyed during the wildfires that tore through the city in 2025.</p>

<p id=”par-5_60″>While most people weren’t paying much attention to Pratt initially, his campaign gained steam in April when he sat down with Joe Rogan. Rogan endorsed Pratt during the podcast episode, though he is not a Los Angeles resident and is not eligible to vote in the election. Pratt also earned the endorsement of Paris Hilton, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/kristin-cavallari-dodges-questions-about-jay-cutler-after-borderline-slander-remarks.html/”>Kristin Cavallari,</a> and Adam Carolla.</p>
<p id=”par-6_45″>In May, Pratt appeared at a debate, where he fared surprisingly well given his lack of political experience. Since the debate and the wave of endorsements, Pratt has gained ground on the incumbent — though Handler is clearly hoping her message will give voters pause.</p>
<p id=”par-7_8″>The primary election is scheduled for June 2.</p>
