Ivory Coast Announces Squad for FIFA World Cup

Ivory Coast has announced its full 26-player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It’s the fourth time the country has qualified for the FIFA World Cup. Despite being known as one of Africa’s best teams, the Elephants never survived the group stage.

Head coach and former player Emerse Faé announced the full squad earlier today. Captain Franck Kessié is the team’s leader. With over 100 caps, he is the player with the most experience. Talented players like Amad Diallo (Manchester United) and Evan Guessand (Crystal Palace) are making their World Cup debuts for the Ivory Coast. Both players are playing in the English Premier League, the biggest domestic competition in the world.

Qualification For The 2026 FIFA World Cup

Ivory Coast had a very successful campaign to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Elephants took on Gabon, Gambia, Kenya, Burundi & Seychelles in their group. The Ivorians remain undefeated in all ten matches they played. Across those ten games, they secured eight wins and two draws against Gabon and Kenya, keeping a stunning ten clean sheets.

Because Gabon also had a great qualifying campaign, the Ivory Coast had to win the final game at home against Kenya to directly qualify for the World Cup. In the capital city, Abidjan, the Elephants won 3-0 and qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Midfielder Seko Fofana was the top scorer of the team during the qualifiers with three goals.

Ivory Coast landed in Group E. The Ivorians open their World Cup on June 14 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they will take on Ecuador. Six days later, they head to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to take on four-time champions Germany. For their final group stage match, they have to travel back to Philadelphia to take on Curaçao on June 25. The two group winners and the eight best third-placed teams from each group will advance to the next stage.
