Seahawks Sign Versatile Award-Winning Playmaker, Cut Ties With Rookie

The Seattle Seahawks are getting their roster ready for all the primetime matchups heading the team’s way as part of the franchise’s anticipated 2026 schedule. Seattle announced three roster moves on May 14, 2026, including the addition of two new wide receivers.

The Seahawks signed Indiana State’s Rashad Rochelle and Toledo’s Trayvon Rudolph as part of the roster moves. Additionally, Seattle announced the release of rookie linebacker Devean Deal.

Seattle initially signed Deal as an undrafted free agent following his college career at TCU. The addition of Rudolph is worth keeping an eye on given the wideout’s ability to return kicks in addition to being a promising receiver as well.

Rudolph earned second-team All-MAC honors last season and was also a two-time All-Mac member during his previous stint with Northern Illinois.

“Rudolph, who played for Toledo last season along with Seahawks seventh-round pick Andre Fuller, was a second-team All-MAC selection, both as a receiver and a kickoff returner,” Seahawks.com’s John Boyle wrote in a May 14, story titled, “Seahawks Sign Receivers Rashad Rochelle & Trayvon Rudolph.”

“He caught 39 passes for 435 yards and two touchdowns, and also gained 374 yards on 18 kick returns, including a 96-yard touchdown. Prior to finishing his college career at Toledo, Rudolph spent four seasons at Northern Illinois, earning All-MAC honors twice as a returner and twice as a receiver.”

Here’s what you need to know about the latest Seahawks roster moves, news and rumors.

The Seahawks Signed a Pair of Wide Receivers in Indiana State’s Rashad Rochelle & Toledo’s Trayvon Rudolph

Prior to playing at Indiana State, Rochelle started his college football career at Rutgers. Rochelle is coming off a career-best season at Indiana State posting 44 receptions for 863 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025.

The wideout was part of the Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp as an undrafted free agent. Rudolph did the same with both the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent.

Both players face an uphill battle to make the final roster given the wide receiver depth already on Seattle’s roster.

Seahawks Rumors: Seattle’s Schedule Expected to Have 7 Primetime Games

The Seahawks have unofficially been linked to seven primetime matchups on their upcoming schedule, per KJR’s Dave “Softy” Mahler. One of these games includes the NFL opener rumored to be a Super Bowl rematch against the New England Patriots on Wednesday, September 9.

Seattle will host the following teams on their 2026 schedule: Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears.

Additionally, the Seahawks will travel to face the following opponents on the road: Cardinals, Rams, 49ers, Washington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald on Super Bowl: ‘We’re Not Defending Anything’

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is already warning his team against “defending” the team’s Super Bowl championship. Seattle continues to emphasize that the 2026 team is starting over amid a new season.

“We’re trying to be really careful with our language, we’re not really saying we’re running anything back, we’re not defending anything,” Macdonald explained in March, per Seahawks.com. “That’s just not really our attitude. The goal is to try to retain as many great players as we can, and we love our roster and we love our guys, and we’re trying to keep that unit together and have that continuity.

“… That’s not a thing. We’re not defending anything. I’ve already talked to some of the guys about it, and they’re great. The guys are awesome, and they know what we need to do.”
