MLB World Reacts To Anthony Volpe News Before Yankees-Orioles Game

On Tuesday night, the New York Yankees will continue their series with the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

The Yankees are coming off a 3-2 loss on Monday (and have lost four straight).

Ahead of Tuesday’s game, Francys Romero of Beisbol FR reported that the Yankees are calling up Anthony Volpe.

Romero wrote: “Sources: The New York Yankees are calling up SS Anthony Volpe from Triple-A Scranton.”

Volpe had been the team’s shortstop for the last three years.

That said, he has yet to make his 2026 season debut for the Yankees.

Social Media Reacts

Here’s what people were saying on social media:

@BarstoolHubbs: “Absolutely sucks this is the way Volpe finds his way back here. Defense looked putrid and lazy in the minors. So Caballero now likely loses his starting job that he earned because of injury. Brutal”

Max Mannis: “The emotional roller coaster of the season is upon us, folks. Stuff’s about to get interesting.”

Tobey Schulman: “Not the best news for Cabby who will likely be heading to the IL. Hope Volpe can make the most of the opportunity!”

@NamethatYank: “Anthony Volpe is coming up! Hopefully he manages to make the rest of this season his comeback tour and goes on a tear!”

Jimmy Randazzo: “Yankees fans about to crash out about Anthony Volpe being called up. We have entered toxic Yankees season.”

Matthew Nethercott: “This is not a good sign for Caballero. Volpe has been really bad at AAA. Volpe will get a chance to save the season:”

Conor Maguire: “Genuinely hope Volpe succeeds, but this feels like his last real shot in pinstripes. Injuries and competition are big factors, but how many starts does he have left to lock down a roster spot before he’s optioned or traded?”

Yankees Right Now

The Yankees enter the night as the second-place team in the American League East with a 26-16 record in 42 games.

They are 12-10 in the 22 games they have played away from the Bronx.

After two more games against the Orioles, the Yankees will visit the New York Mets on Friday.
