Eagles A.J. Brown Reportedly Takes Next Step as Patriots Rumors Continue to Grow

The expectation is that the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be trading star wide receiver A.J. Brown come June, with the New England Patriots being his likely destination. Certainly, it seems like Brown himself is expecting to go to New England, as he was recently speaking to the management of a condo in the trendy Boston neighborhood of Seaport.

Jim Murray of 98.5 the Sports Hub had the scoop, sharing it on Twitter/X.

“Per Source: AJ Brown will be speaking with management at one of the big, fancy condo developments in the Seaport this week regarding residency,” Murray wrote. “I was asked to omit which specific one.”

Now, Brown could just be interested in Boston condos out of curiosity. It’s just much more likely that he’s planning out where he wants to live come a trade to the Patriots.

At this point, it doesn’t seem like a matter of if the Philadelphia Eagles trade will A.J. Brown, but when. On top of that, the matter of where Brown is likely going to be traded isn’t much of a mystery anymore either.

The common belief is that Brown is going to the Patriots at the start of June. Adam Schefter reported that before the draft and re-iterated it recently when he made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, saying that Brown knows where he’s heading in the future.

“I think he knows where his future is headed at this moment,” Schefter said. “And it will be a matter of the Patriots and the Eagles getting together to basically process the trade, finalize the trade, make sure it happens. Again, there’s nothing that has transpired here, despite all the events in New England, that has deterred this trade from coming off. I still think it’s on track. I still think it’s going to happen.”

Along with the report from Murray that Brown is looking at condos in Boston, it doesn’t take a fortune teller to take a guess at what comes next. It appears a trade to the Patriots is just weeks away.

What Will A.J. Brown Cost the New England Patriots?

One of the major debates in the entire A.J. Brown saga is what the star wide receiver is going to cost in a trade. Some have argued for a first-round package. Others for a second-round package. Adam Schefter is among those who believe it will cost the Patriots a first-round pick.

“I still think it will involve a future [first-round pick], likely a 2028 first-round draft pick. I still think all these elements are in place,” Schefter said. “And I still think that once we get to June that these two sides will get together and complete a trade that will send A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots.”

The rumors about Brown and the Patriots have also created rumors about Kayshon Boutte. New England is rapidly approaching more receivers than it can carry on its roster. So, someone is going to be the odd man out. If it’s Boutte, then he could be on the move too.

A recent roster projection from Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report had Boutte on the Eagles and Brown on the Patriots. In other words, Boutte was included in the trade. Davenport did not break down what he thinks the trade would be in full. However, it would be helpful to both sides, as Philadelphia tries to replace Brown and New England needs to move on from a target while giving up as little draft capital as possible.
