Steelers Insider Has Located Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers and future first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers have yet to agree to terms on a new contract for the 2026 season. In fact, it was unknown whether or not the four-time MVP was even in the city of Pittsburgh, as it was previously reported. But now, it appears as though Rodgers has been located.

According to insider Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rodgers has been in the city of Pittsburgh for a few days. However, the Steelers have supposedly met with his agent rather than him. Perhaps a deal is close to being reached.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Don’t Have to Be in a Rush

On Saturday, Dulac noted a possible reason via social media for why Rodgers hasn’t entered the building yet, despite being inside the city limits:

“Rodgers has stayed away from the team’s South Side facility while the three-day rookie minicamp has been going on.”

While many fans and media members might get tired of the fact that Rodgers hasn’t exactly signed with the team yet, he’s making sure not to become a distraction within the building for all of the rookies. This is the time for the rookies to learn the NFL game and get up to speed within the Steelers organization.

Furthermore, assuming he signs with the Steelers, Rodgers doesn’t have to be with the team until June 2nd, when mandatory minicamp kicks off. So the Super Bowl MVP doesn’t necessarily need to be in a rush, but he appears to be close to signing a new deal if he is in the city of Pittsburgh.

Aaron Rodgers Is the Best Thing for the Steelers

There should be no debate on who the starting quarterback should be for Pittsburgh in 2026. If the team and the fans want to win right now, Rodgers is the best option. Despite battling a fractured wrist and age, the 42-year-old proved that he can still play great football. En route to guiding the Steelers to their first AFC North title in five years, he recorded 25 total touchdowns and just seven interceptions. He posted a solid passer rating of 94.8 and was a true difference-maker. If not for his very steady play and consistency, this team is in a lot more trouble.

Not only should the Steelers and their fans be interested in wanting Rodgers back to help the team right now, but he would be great for the team’s future. Sure, he could be a quality starter for the next couple of seasons. But more importantly, he would be a great mentor for the team’s future starter in either Will Howard or Drew Allar. Already having been a mentor for Green Bay Packers franchise quarterback Jordan Love and Howard, Rodgers should have no trouble being a teacher yet again. After all, he is arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
