Patriots Former Day 2 Pick Finds New Home After Minicamp

Former New England Patriots offensive guard Layden Robinson signed with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday. NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo reported this.

Robinson most recently signed with the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad on October 21, 2025. He later signed a reserve/future contract with the organization in January 2026. Robinson was with the Raiders throughout the rest of the 2025 season. He was most recently waived by the organization on May 2.

Now, he is trying to find his footing with the Falcons as NFL teams across the country look for offensive lineman prior to training camp and the start of the season.

Patriots Rookie Made An Impact

Robinson’s career with New England was an interesting one. He was drafted by the organization in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft. The Texas A&M product was a key contributor for the Patriots in his rookie year. He played 13 games and started 11. He broke those starts down into several positions. Robinson played six starts at right guard and five at left guard. Run-blocking was a major aspect of his game.

With that being said, pass protection was not his strong suit. 2025 ended up being his final season with the Patriots, as he was waived in August during final roster cuts.

Former Patriots Lineman Was Strong In SEC

His NFL career to this point has been a bit of a stark contrast to his collegiate career. He was a key piece of the Texas A&M offensive line from 2019 to 2023. He was a three-year starter and played in 45 games with 33 starts. The lineman was a two-time Second-Team All-SEC selection in 2021 and 2023. Robinson was able to hold his own against the best in the SEC.

Now, he will look to provide important depth for the Falcons. His play style could fit well in Atlanta, as he played both left and right guard during his time at the Patriots. The Falcons tend to rotate linemen heavily. He will also be able to provide experienced depth for the Falcons, on what is a line headlined by players such as Christopher Lindstrom and Matthew Bergeron. This, of course, is in addition to the talents he provides at run blocking. Run blocking was often a stronger point of his game during his time with the Patriots.

It will be interesting to see how he does with the Falcons. It helps that the organization already has a steady base on the offensive line. This can certainly be helpful for a guy trying to find his role and get back into the thick of things. The potential is certainly there, as evidenced by what he accomplished during his college career. Now, just about getting back into the game on a smaller role. This is a low-risk, high-reward move for the Falcons. He was able to serve a solid role during his time with the Patriots, and now he’s going to get another chance to really hone his skills and play at a high level in an extremely competitive and talented NFC South division.
