76ers’ VJ Edgecombe Gains High Praise From Ex-Miami Heat Stars

Ahead of Game 3 between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks, Sixers guard Kyle Lowry joined Amazon’s playoff coverage on his off night on Thursday.

During his segment, Lowry received a request from his former Miami Heat teammate, Udonis Haslem. The Miami legend wants a VJ Edgecombe autograph.

“I got a favor to ask. I don’t ask for much. I need me a signed VJ Edgecombe,” Haslem said to Lowry.

That sparked a glowing review for Edgecombe from Lowry.

“He is one of the most amazing, individually special people I’ve ever met,” Lowry said of Edgecombe. “He’s humble, he’s funny, he works hard, he wants to win, and he’s just down to earth. [VJ] is just trying to figure it out. I mean, you would love him, honestly.”

Haslem then admitted he’s a “huge fan” of the Sixers’ rookie.

It’s not taking long for VJ Edgecombe to earn respect around the league. From the jump, the former Baylor guard was a starter for the 76ers.

Throughout the first half of the season, Edgecombe landed plenty of praise from his veteran teammates and coaches.

Now that Edgecombe is navigating his first playoff run in the league, the young star has been gaining plenty of respect from current and former NBA players as well. Haslem can be added to the list.

The 20-year-old started all 75 games he played for the Sixers in 2025-2026. Seeing the court for 35 minutes per game, Edgecombe shot the ball at a 43.8% clip from the field. and knocked down 35.4% of his threes.

Edgecombe posted averages of 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals.

Through nine games of the 2026 NBA Playoffs, Edgecombe has maintained a stellar performance. The rookie is putting up 15.0 points per game, while hitting on 42.6% of his field goals. He is also averaging 6.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.0 steals.
