The 2026-2027 NBA season will serve as the final year of Mitchell’s contract.

He’s currently in the midst of a two-year deal, worth $24.0 million.

During the 2026-2027 season, Mitchell will earn $12.4 million. After the season, he will become an unrestricted free agent. The new agency will be tasked with finding Mitchell the best deal possible next summer. And depending on the Heat’s offseason/in-season moves, Mitchell could become a trade candidate.

It’s typical for players in the midst of their final contract season to be viewed as possible trade candidates. If the Heat don’t plan to keep Mitchell around for the long run, they could look to get value for him now before they lose him to the free agency market for nothing.
