Raiders Urged to Sign 8-Time Pro Bowler After Missing out on Key Free Agent

After the Las Vegas Raiders missed out on drafting a top wide receiver in the draft, there was a lot of speculation that they could go after Jauan Jennings in free agency. He had previously worked with head coach Klint Kubiak in the past, so he was a logical fit.

However, he decided to sign a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings. There were no reports directly linking the Raiders to a Jennings signing, so they may not have been interested. Regardless, that doesn’t change the fact that wide receiver is still an area of concern.

After missing out on Jennings, Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report suggested the Raiders should sign Tyreek Hill.

“It’s pretty clear where the Las Vegas Raiders are focusing their resources on offense,” Kasabian wrote. “They have a No. 1 overall pick at quarterback (Fernando Mendoza), a No. 6 overall pick at running back (Ashton Jeanty) and a No. 13 overall pick at tight end (Brock Bowers). Bowers was an All-Pro in 2024 (112/1,194/5), and Jeanty just had 1,321 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns in his rookie year.

“Wide receiver, on paper, might be a place where there’s room for improvement, although that could very well be proven wrong this season. Still, if the Raiders want to make a move, Hill’s out there and would become the team’s WR1.”

Hill to the Raiders Is Unlikely

There are many reasons why Hill to the Raiders doesn’t make much sense. He’s one of the greatest wide receivers of the 2000s. He’s an eight-time Pro Bowler, is a Super Bowl champion and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. However, he’s coming off major surgery and is already 32.

The Raiders already have speedy wide receivers on the roster. Tre Tucker and Hill have very similar builds and 40-yard dash times. The team also signed Jalen Nailor, who is another speedy deep threat.

That’s not to mention that Hill is probably going to want to play for a contender at this point in his career. The Raiders were the worst team in the NFL last season. While they’ve made major strides this offseason, it’s highly unlikely they’ll compete for a Super Bowl this year. Hill would likely rather go to a team he knows is going to be in the mix.

Other Vet WRs Raiders Could Look At

Though Hill might not be the best fit, there are some other good options in free agency. Stefon Diggs could make some sense, but he’s probably also looking to join a contender. Plus, he’s dealt with a lot of off-the-field drama in his career, which is the last thing a young team needs.

Deebo Samuel previously worked with Kubiak in San Francisco, so that could be a logical move. He’s not really the player he once was, but he could be a fun playmaker for the coach to utilize.

If the Raiders want a bigger wide receiver, Noah Brown is still available. For now, it seems like the team wants to see what they have in their current group, so a wide receiver addition likely won’t come until closer to training camp.
