Insider Reveals Potential Return for Bills in Keon Coleman Trade

The Buffalo Bills have some major question marks at wide receiver, and the future of Keon Coleman is a major talking point.

Buffalo traded for DJ Moore to be the team’s No. 1 receiver. They still have the likes of Khalil Shakir, Coleman, and Joshua Palmer, among others, in their wide receiver room. The Bills also drafted Skyler Bell, which could mean Buffalo could trade a receiver.

One name mentioned in trade talks is Coleman, who struggled and was a healthy scratch for multiple games last season. If Coleman gets traded, Bills insider Chris Trapasso of SB Nation believes Buffalo likely wouldn’t get a ton for him.

“Because there have been minor flashes from Coleman — like late in his rookie season and in Week 1 against the Ravens, I would expect the Bills to be able to get more than the lowly Round 6 – Round 7 pick swap which has basically become the smallest return a player can fetch on the trade market in the modern-day NFL,” Trapasso wrote.

“Would I expect Coleman to get the Bills much more than that? No. And if the Rams offered a 2027 Round 4 pick in exchange for Coleman and, say, a Round 5 selection, I, personally believe that’s something the Bills should consider and ultimately agree to.”

It would be a low return for Coleman, which is why the Bills could decide to keep him. He still has two years left on his rookie deal and is cost-affordable, which is needed for a Buffalo team that is right up against the cap.

Coleman recorded 38 receptions for 404 yards and 4 touchdowns last season.

Bills GM Shut Down Trade Talks for Coleman

Buffalo selected Coleman in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he has struggled in his two years.

Coleman has shown maturity issues and has also struggled on the field. Bills owner Terry Pegula also called out Coleman after the playoff exit. That led many to think he would be traded.

However, before the NFL Draft, Bills general manager Brandon Beane shot down trade talks on Coleman.

“We had some people connect with us in Indy, at least one team there, and a couple between there and the owners meetings. But we shut those down,” Beane said during an appearance on WGR-550, via ESPN. “Our intention is for Keon to be here, and so I think the word was kind of out. So, no calls this weekend.

“We’ve hit the reset button with him, and hopefully the fan base and everyone’s behind him. I think his best year is yet to come here in 2026.”

With the Bills not expecting to trade Coleman, Buffalo is expecting the young receiver to make an impact this season.

Coleman Gets High Praise From Coach

Buffalo hired Joe Brady as its new head coach, and he shared high praise for Coleman.

Brady believes Coleman will make an impact this season, and he’s excited for the young receiver to prove the doubters wrong.

“I told Keon when I got hired, the best thing that happened to Keon Coleman was me being his head coach,” Brady said. “I was one of the ones that stood on the table for Keon Coleman, and I believe in Keon Coleman.”
